Even though one of our services we offer is search engine optimization (SEO) I wanted to give a couple of hints on how to increase your site’s traffic, the free way. I wont go into to much detail but with this small road map, you will see much more success in your SEO efforts.
- Get your business on Social Networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, and if you have the resources, YouTube. There are so many of these types of site out there where you can make a business page for free and let people from all over the world find you through their friends.
- Start a blog. It’s an easy task, with a huge payoff. As long as you have something worth telling your customers/clients they’ll listen. There are a couple of free options for getting a blog up and running. One of the most commonly used (especially for businesses) is WordPress. There are a couple of options when you pursue this; using their server at www.wordpress.com or installing it on your website at www.wordpress.org. The first is the fastest and easiest way to get a blog up and running. If you do this yourself, you most likely will not have a blog that looks like it belongs with your site. Which is where we come in to help you with the the more advanced operations of a blog.
- Find free directories where you can list your business in their databases and link to your website. The more your site is linked to, the higher up the food chain you’ll be on search engines.
- Get listed on Google Maps, and Yahoo! Local. All you have to do is list your business with those services and people will begin to see your company. Some phone books do this service for you when you get a listing through them, but make sure you submit it yourself so you know the content that goes into your business’s page.
- This is quite possibly the most important and simple tip: submit your site to Google, Yahoo!, and MSN. These companies can only know a site exists if you tell them it does.
These were just the free options. There are bigger and better ways to get click traffic on your company’s site. However, until your budget calls for a bigger, spend a couple of hours on your own computer and do these options for free first.
